JOB DESCRIPTION

We're seeking a passionate and highly skilled Assistant Cocktail Bar Manager to join our award-winning venue on the ground floor of Shell House. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside industry leaders, contributing to the continued success and evolution of our bar program. Enjoy a work-life balance with Sundays always off, and the potential for a full-time position for the right candidate.

THE VENUE

Shell House is an adventure. We curate a complete experience - amazing food, great drinks served in space that is award winning in design that has a lively and engaging atmosphere. Importantly, we are all about service and guest engagement. 

Paying homage to the legendary Menzies Hotel, The Menzies Bar is a true labour of love, where obsession with history, hospitality and good times are woven together to deliver a bar legitimately unique to the Sydney CBD.

Bar Manager
Bar Supervisor

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.

REQUIREMENTS

ABOUT YOU

  • You are passionate about great customer service and enjoy the interaction with customers.
  • You want to be part of a vibrant and friendly team, who support each other to consistently deliver a high level of guest expectations and service.
  • You have sound wine knowledge.
  • You have an interest in product and have extensive spirit knowledge.
  • You are an expert in classic cocktails and variations. 
  • You have experience in stock control and ordering. 
  • You have previously worked with a batching program. 
  • You enjoy curating experiences for guests.
  • You have previously worked in a bistro style setting. 
  • You have previous experience in a leadership role.

The Shell House

Spread over three levels, Shell House is an unparalleled hospitality experience in the Sydney CBD, combining both indoor and outdoor settings over 1,250 sqm of space. This includes a ground floor bar, the Menzies Bar, the Shell House Dining Room and Terrace, and the Clocktower Bar on level 9 and the Shell House Sky Bar on Level 10. “We feel like we have a once in a generation opportunity to do something extraordinary of a global standard, to build a new iconic hospitality landmark and take a leading role in reigniting the CBD dining culture. Shell House is historically significant as the only surviving interwar commercial palazzo-style building in Sydney, clad with glazed terracotta ‘faience’ blocks. Standing at 65.5 metres high, Shell House’s façade is also one of the tallest retained heritage façades in the world. Prior to redevelopment, Shell House was home to the Menzies Hotel, with its outdated 1970s interiors now being transformed into a contemporary office building designed by architects MAKE and Architectus with fitout by Woods Bagot.
